Palestinians in Gaza are holding a wake for Abdul Karim Abu Jalhoum, who moved to Turkey to escape the Israeli blockade but was killed with his wife and children in his home in Antakya when the earthquake that struck the southern region of the country on Monday destroyed their home.
The ongoing Israeli blockade on Gaza has crippled its economic growth and restricted the freedom of movement for two million Palestinians. As a result, many choose to leave in search of a better life, on the rare occasions that Egypt opens its borders.
